Westin Resort, Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia
Honorable President of the Republic of Indonesia,
Distinguished Ministers,
Esteemed Keynote Speakers and Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with great pride and profound gratitude that I stand before you today as the Chairman of the Indonesian Jamu Council, welcoming you all to the 1st Jamu (Loloh) International Conference & Expo (JICE). In this majestic setting of Bali, we gather to celebrate, discuss, and explore the remarkable heritage of Jamu, a symbol of Indonesia’s ancient wisdom, now advancing into modern healthcare.
The theme of this conference, “Djampi Oesodo as Jamu from Ancient Wisdom to Modern Practice: The Evolution of Holistic, Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine based on Nusantara Advanced Culture Wisdom,” encapsulates the rich history and future potential of Jamu. It reminds us that Jamu is not only a traditional remedy but also a pathway that integrates body, mind, and spirit for holistic health.
For centuries, Jamu has been deeply rooted in the daily lives of Indonesians, passed down through generations. It embodies the essence of Djampi Oesodo, a philosophy that integrates consciousness, energy, and matter to maintain health. From Borobudur’s ancient reliefs depicting medicinal practices, to the carefully crafted remedies our ancestors perfected, Jamu has withstood the test of time, continuing to
heal and nurture.
This conference is not only a celebration of our heritage but a collaborative platform. We are honored to have global thought leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, and innovators here to share their knowledge and ideas on how ancient traditions can harmoniously blend with modern science. Our distinguished keynote speaker, Dr. Kim Sungchol of the World Health Organization, is a testament to this union, as he exemplifies how traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine are gaining increasing recognition in global health systems As we embark on this three-day journey, our goals are clear:
- First : To explore the historical roots of holistic, traditional, and integrative medicine through the Djampi Oesodo philosophy.
- Second : To validate Jamu’s efficacy through scientific research, strengthening its position within modern healthcare.
- Third : To foster cultural integration, ensuring that the traditional wisdom of Nusantara continues to inspire and guide global health practices.
- Fourth : To engage policy dialogues, ensuring that Jamu and other traditional medicines are part of national and international public health strategies.
This event is not merely academic. It brings together government, business leaders, traditional healers, healthcare professionals, and communities to form a united front in preserving, promoting, and elevating Jamu onto the world stage Ladies and Gentlemen, The cultural diversity of Indonesia is one of our greatest strengths, and Jamu is a testament to this diversity. From its preparation as herbal drinks, health supplements, to its use in cosmetics and aromatherapy, Jamu represents the harmony between nature and human well-being. Through this conference, we aim to introduce Jamu not only as a traditional practice but as a modern, integrative health solution. It is time for the world to recognize Jamu as a bridge between traditional wisdom andcontemporary healthcare. In closing, I express my deepest gratitude to all participants, organizers, and collaborators who have made this event possible. Let this conference ignite a new era for Jamu, where ancient wisdom meets modern science, contributing to a healthier, more holistic world. Thank you, and may this conference be a fruitful and inspiring experience for us all. Long live Jamu! Long live Indonesia!
